TJ Simers has a positive impact.

 

it's about what was happening. fans were getting the hell out of brooklyn for long island and the stadium had what, 700 parking spaces?

the guy wanted to keep his team in brooklyn, but the city didn't want to do shit to keep the name brooklyn attached to the dodgers. i hate the fact that the dodgers moved, but i don't really blame him.

and the bottom line is: how did things work out for the dodgers after the move? the answer is they drew a million more fans in '59 than they did in '57 and 1.7 million more fans in '62 than they did in '57.

 

did hbo also build the freeway systems around nyc?

On some level, the thought of Simers interviewing a 12-year-old makes me laugh ...

Then again, he probably had some intern do it for him ...

 

why does Simers call the PR guy "The Dentist?"

 

There's a David Wharton contribution line at the end of that column. I'll bet that it's for this quote.

 

Because the guy used to be a Dentist and a PR guy for the Red Sox.

Same as why he called the previous PR person the "Tipper Gore Lady." She used to be Tipper's PR flak.

He has many nicknames for people. Frank's Old Lady. The Grocery Store Bagger. Etc.

 

Because he's a condescending prick who has to denigrate everybody.
