Welcome to Maui. That will be $4 a gallon, please.

Uhm, why is this a liberal issue? Seriously? Don't liberals and conservatives pay the same price? Unless conservatives have their secret power ring that knocks 20 cents off the price at the pump.

So far, here's the accepted model for dealing with rising gas prices:

Complain, complain, complain, bitch, complain, complain, continue doing the exact same thing you've always done.

I dunno, TSP. I didn't blink when gas went to $2, $2.50, even $3. But seeing $3.45 yesterday, and hearing we're looking at $4 maybe this summer, really struck me. I can absolutely say I will not drive as much.

I will sacrifice a lot of things before I will sacrifice driving.

    $1.12 a litre or $4.25 a gallon.

Predictions of $1.40 a litre ($5.25 a gallon) by summer.

I'm looking for an apartment a few blocks from work ... my driving will be very limited.

$4 is the magic number, or so I have read.

Let's assume Big Dog means this - the part where one of us posts the prices in Europe, reminds him that their economies are kicking our ass, and that $4 a gallon looks good in comparison to $8 a gallon, even when the dollar is trading at its lowest point in decades. Then he'll remind us that Europe's much smaller, and that most of the extra cost is taken up in taxes to support lazy and corrupt welfare states. And that furthermore Europe is full of Reds and foreigners and that they don't have cowboys or drive-in movie theaters or cold beer or baseball.

Then we all move on with our lives.
