I must have called early... he took my info and said thanks... Was kind of surprised that I called to put to the cause.
I hope it WAS the manager and not some guy at the bar...

That's really cool with the agate page guys.

I'm sad to say this is one of the more memorable threads on here.

Yeah, the agate page was all kinds of awesome.

A very classy, well-played move, Jim. Nicely done.

And I wish I'd of heard about the bar tab kitty. Dan Raley and Angelo B. -- two of the nicest guys to ever take in a punk wanna-be golf writer -- need a drink on me.

Wonder what you'd do news side? Interject people into the police log?

Hey, as those of us laid off reach dire straits, we'll probably all make it into the police log anyway.

You couldn't find a paper anywhere in the city today. Every box was empty from the early morning -- speculation is that people were plunking in 50 cents, taking the whole stack and selling them on ebay (where the asking price was as high as $50 a copy Tuesday). Even the employees were scrounging to come up with single copies for ourselves. I managed to get five.

That sounds like one heckuva party you folks had!!!! Good for you!! You earned it.

  9. It's heartbreaking to see the paper go, but you guys went out on top.

Standing-O from me, dudes. What a great section and a great paper.

Loved the agate page. Hate that it had to come to this. Having lived in the area, lot of names that I recognize.

Damn this business and the suits that ruined it.
