Sam Wyche, former coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, gets a new gig -- as a city councilman in Pickens, S.C. Good for Sam. Remember reading a story recently (as in, last year) about him still trying to coach, but he had a serious throat problem. He could barely speak.

    From the local rag:

The over-under is five for the number of meetings it takes before another council member says, "Wicky-Wacky blew another one."

In a related sports/politics note, Sacramento also has itself a new mayor:

Wyche actually does some analysis for games on SportSouth, so I take it that his throat condition has gotten better.

Are there any female reporters who cover the Pickens County Council?

Why worry about politics? There's golf to be played, tennis to be served up.

    You want flash from KJ?

Still one of the best dunks I've ever seen.

What? Wyche couldn't get a job at the Plain Dealer?

Wyche was a QB coach for the Pickens (HS) Blue Flames when I was in the area. The starting QB was the head coach's son, and we had a funny quote, something to the effect of "How's he going to listen to me when we've got a super bowl coach on the sideline?"

He was fantastic to deal with.

Maybe Ace could get a job with the Pickens Plain Dealer.
