That would make California only ... (breaking out the abacus ... carry the five ...) $500 billion in debt?

Q14 Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the state of Nebraska?
    Favorable........................................................ 29%
    Unfavorable .................................................... 11%
    Not sure .......................................................... 60%

    Midwestern obscurity, baby.

Go spend a week in San Diego or Malibu or Monterey or Napa or San Francisco and tell me that you still think California is the worst state.

I mean I'm obviously biased as a native, but good lord...

As a native of Illinois, I will say that the only reason the Land of Lincoln was surpassed by California as most disliked state was Illinois' proven skills at vote manipulation.

Neither state should be anywhere even close to the top.

I would be willing to bet most people who are voting in these things have never even been to California. Kinda' like the people babbling about how Murrica is the best cunntree on earf are always the motherfuckers who have never been anywhere.

Well, I like America, so I'm not going to engage in that argument, but I've been to 48 states (Maine and Alaska) and lived in eight and California and Illinois would be pretty close to my top...

That said, if the poll was places you can't afford to live, then I could understand California being that high...

Good point. Wouldn't people have a bad impression of a state where a 3 bedroom 1 1/2 bath ranch costs $800,000?

Yeah, I had the chance to go back early in my career and despite being offered a 50 percent raise, I couldn't justify the move because of the cost of living...
