In a similar vein, I once wore parachute pants to a seventh grade dance party.

    In 1986.

    Ouch

Years before the man bun, I used to wear a top knot in 1998. I had long hair, it was summer. I needed to do something with it. And I'd been watching a lot of 1970s kung-fu movies for some reason.

I had two pair of parachute pants, and I wore them more than once.

1986 would be around the time they were retired, though. I cannot say for sure whether I wore them in 1986 or not.
I can say with some amount of certainty that I wore them many times in 1984 and 1985, possibly 1983, too.

One pair was red and the other was gray and black.

Mine was gray. I wore it quite often in '84 and '85.

Wearing it in the fall of '86, though, got me a lot of "nice pants," remarks from my fellow classmates.

Yeah, that's why it's hard to remember. I'm positive I wasn't wearing them by fall of '86. That was start of my senior in HS.
But early months of '86 there could've been some times I wore them.

Hard to recall. There was a steady stream of recreational drugs and alcohol involved.

Believe me, when I reflect on my youth it is usually with a great deal of shame.

At one point I wanted to attempt long hair, but my hair was extremely frizzy and curly.
It also was almost platinum blonde naturally.

My father said: Go get a hair cut. You look like a Q Tip.

I think I've determined that Buck is Caucasian. NTTAWWT.

Question Buck: I just read up on parachute pants (wiki). Did you ever do any breakdancing?
