I rent out my townhome by the room, and the room is not theirs until I have a signed check.

Like Spnited said, if it was that sweet, I would have been cutting a check that day.

 

The silver lining is there are tons of places for rent right now at good prices.

You will find another place.

 

Hey, I said "charmingly abrasive," which is charitable, my friend.

 

She first told us this three weeks after we had first contacted her about the apartment and one week after we'd looked at it.

Look, I get that she had no commitment to give us the apartment because she didn't have a deposit from us. Had she not asked to check out some references first, I would've given her a check on the spot. The thing that pisses me off is that she never mentioned any other possible renters until the same phone message in which she told us the date we could move in. When we looked at the place, she told us we were the only people who knew it would even be available soon (except, apparently, this family friend).

 

Ditto.

But I try my best to not be bitter, or even sad.

I be awesome instead......true story.

 

It's worked quite well for me for the last 12 years or so.
