Just noticed it was free on MLB.com. Damn. Wish I'd known earlier.
My son called a little while ago. He snagged a ticket, is sitting behind the outfield. The Yankees started their A team. He said it was an amazing scene and he'll have a hard time cheering against them. Pix on Yankees.com of them at the memorial.

My son said it was a very interesting mix of tears and smiles - he had some of both.

By "A" team do you mean ARod, Jeter, etc. or their Class A team?

  5. Nice job, Yanks.
Is there a connection to Va Tech at all?

They made Girardi and Jeter available on a conference call last week. The Yankees have done it right.
Tech is wearing VT-colored hats with the NY logo. Yankees took BP in similar hats. They will be auctioned off for the memorial fund.

I fully expect a call from the kid tonight - "Dad, I need 500 bones."

    I'd probably send it.

Fens, no connection. Steinbrenner gave a million to the fund right after the tragedy and said, "We're coming."

  7. OK, I didn't know if any of the younger Steinbrenners might have gone there.
Send your kid the money, cheapskate. It's not like you need it to fly to an NCAA game or anything.
    (See, now that's not right...)

  9. Cool.
This is really a good thing for the Yankees to do.

I hate having a reason to like the Yankees. Great stuff though.

Looks like the VT-colored caps with the NY logo are already sold out.
