    Spade was paid 200K:

Farley's image was licensed by the family for a billboard campaign in 2006 for 25K.

The family has no reason to release any figures for this spot, but they may very well come out.

I know. I'm overstating for effect.
But how is the commercial 'mocking'?

That's what I get for trusting IMDB over my own memory. I was going to post Kim Basinger (or a Kim Basinger lookalike) then when I checked IMDB to make sure it was indeed Basinger in that role in the movie, IMDB said it was Donna Dixon.

I don't see it as mocking Farley at all.

If his brother comes out and says that, then that's a legitmate concern. I would think they had some knowledge of what the finished product was. Maybe not. We'll see.

I would hope the estate was compensated on the same level Spade was.

Ever since Fred Astaire danced with a vacuum cleaner, it's all been downhill ...

Yep, Mrs. Dan Aykroyd played Garth's Dream Woman. :)

And, for what it's worth, I don't see anything wrong with the Farley commercial or with Spade's participation in it.

According to this NY Daily News story, "part of the proceeds from the ad go to the Chris Farley Foundation, which uses humor to educate teens and young people about addiction and substance abuse."

Dixon was Garth's Dream Woman in WW1; Basinger was in WW2 .

Not really sure which one is in the DirectTV ad.

You can't tell one aging, vapid blond actress from another without a program.

I didn't remember that Basinger was in WW2, because that film was a total piece of shit and I forgot about it after forcing myself to sit through the entire mess.

It was, but it does contain a great exchange between Basinger and Garth, when she asks him out:

BASINGER: "Would you like to have dinner some night?"

GARTH: "Oh, I like to have dinner every night."

I'm more creeped out by the David Fincher-directed Adrian Peterson commercial.

That's probably the darkest commercial I've ever seen.

Indeed, it's Basinger in the commercial:
