If your column attacks only the Mooslims, I see no problem.

Yep, this correctly explains the entire mindset. I suggest you go ahead and write your article. I'll get my popcorn.

So what's the thesis statement: You're too close minded to think like me?

Seriously, why does someone who self-describes as non-religious want to write about religion? Do you need to feel better about yourself? Or just better than your readers?

Seriously, if you're planning to write a column about religion, as opposed to a regular religious column, find another topic. No good will come of this. You don't mention any credentials on your part that would lend credibility to your position. We would hold a columnist writing about a sport to a higher standard.

It's your job ... at least until you publish that column.

No one wants to be preached to and that includes those from both sides of the debate on religion. I don't think it will go over well if you complain about Christmas decorations in local shops.

You should follow it up with "Hey Moms: There's Nothing Special About Childbirth, People Have Been Doing It For Thousands Of Years"

To the orginal question ... You are asking - nyah, begging - for trouble.

Atheists and agnostics should get together and try to get a page in the newspaper, much like many papers have a religion page or sections.

The political equivalent would be a liberal.

I think most people, not just those who are religious, think freedom only applies to them and those they agree with.

As a transplanted Bible Belt resident, I say:

    It wasn't my fault.
    I ran out of gas.
My tux didn't come back from the cleaners.
    I had a flat tire.
An old friend came in from out of town.
I didn't have money for cab fare.
There was an earthquake, a terrible flood .... LOCUSTS! It wasn't my fault, I swear to God......
