Er ... no, I wouldn't.
TULSA, Okla. – One of the most deadly spiders in the world has been found in the produce section of a Tulsa grocery store. An employee of Whole Foods Market found the Brazilian Wandering Spider Sunday in bananas from Honduras and managed to catch it in a container.

The spider was given to University of Tulsa Animal Facilities director Terry Childs who said this type of spider kills more people than any other.

Childs said a bite will kill a person in about 25 minutes and while there is an antidote he doesn't know of any in the Tulsa area.

Spiders often are found in imported produce, and a manager at Whole Foods says the store regularly checks its goods and that's how the spider was found.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090320/ap_on_re_us/deadly_spider_2

They found one in an English school last year, too. Strangely, it was found in bananas from Cameroon.

I saw that...holy shit. Can you imagine if the dude got bit? Nobody goes to work expecting to suffer a fatal spider bite.

In high school (and some college) I worked in the produce section at the local grocery store and heard stories about guys finding spiders in the banana boxes. I opened those things carefully.

I worked at a lumber yard when I was in high school. We were unloading a delivery of railroad ties and found a live rattlesnake in one of them. That was fun.

I also worked in produce back in the day and never knew what we'd find in the bananas... the grapes were also an adventure.

So the venom kills you in 25 minutes and yet you're still sporting wood for hours.

How do they shut the coffin lid?
