Would You Go To "Elliot Spitzer Night" In Macon In June??

As Eliot Spitzer exits to repair the damage his scandal has caused, a baseball team wants to hold "Eliot Spitzer Night" and is holding a fan vote to see whether to go through with it. Looked up Spitzer in old threads but did not see discussion of this:

From AP in today's local paper --

MACON,Ga. -- Due to the overwhelming fallout from the announcement last week of Elliot Spitzer Night, the Macon Music have now announced there will be an online poll to determine the unconventional promotion's future.

The team sent out a news release Sunday saying that the Music will let the fans decide whether the promotion will go on as planned.

"The Music and the (South Coast) League have received an abundance of media attention since the announcement of Elliot Spitzer Night," Music assistant general manager Jason Gold said in a statement.

"There seems to be two definite sides of the argument, with many fans wanting the promotion to be carried out and many of the fans wanting the promotion to be cancelled."

The Music made national headlines last week when the team announced the promotion, scheduled for June 13's meeting with the Aiken Foxhounds. The promotion included, among other elements, an invitation to the former governor to throw out the first pitch and wire taps placed around the stadium. "

A couple of questions (which might seem too obvious, but I am not afraid):

    1) Is there NOTHING ballclubs will use for promo fodder?

    2) Isn't this going OVER THE TOP just a bit?

    3) Would you go (and take your kids, especially your daughters, whom you will have had to have discussions around the kitchen table about the Spitzer situation)?

    Otherwise, in general, discuss.

Only if they have a drawing for a free night with an Emperors Club girl of your choice.

To have a night of "fun" based on a married governor nailing a prostitute seems pretty crass, but I think that barn door was left open years ago.

This yokel minor league baseball team has already received gobs of publicity (the highest rated english-speaking morning show in LA spent five minutes talking about it, I am sure every morning zoo in the country did the same). They think its worth it.

This Tokyo team would have been a better fit to host such a night:

Would it be beside the point to note that the Mayflower Hotel is in Washington?

Did this team change its name from the Whoopie to Music? If so, I missed that name change.

EDIT: Just checked... the Whoopie were a hockey team.

  10. Think the Whoopie was a hockey team.

And on another unrelated note, one of my best friends is leaving for a vacation in Japan and he already has tickets to see the Swallows play. I'd never heard of them, but apparently they're the Clippers of Tokyo.

How do you place wiretaps throughout a stadium? If they already have them in place, perhaps they can go with a "Patriot Act" night.

Is anybody going to care about this by June 13?
