Based on the performance of a good number of nags I've bet on, I'd have been much better off having them for an appetizer or an entree.

True, Kirk. And if horses are as cognizant of the surrounding world as horse fans say they are, this should provide a good incentive to run a lot goddamn faster.

Henry Huggins bought Ribsy horsemeat all the time in Beverly Cleary books. If it's good enough for Ribsy, it's good enough for me.

This steak still has marks from where the jockey was hitting it.

Those horses in Toronto could've come from the United States. Horses that would've been slaughtered in the U.S. have been shipped to Canada or Mexico since the funding for these inspections was pulled in 2006.

I have eaten deer and bear, but I will not eat dog, cat or any other domesticated animal. That includes a horse.

    John Elway approves.

So that's why the world hates Americans. We don't eat Seabiscuit.

Also: John Elway and Rebecca Lobo, watch your BACKS.

    Of course, of course.

  11. One of the major factors behind getting this law repealed was the inhumane transport of live horses out of the country. From what I've heard the treatment of these animals was horrendous. Another unintended consequence from increased governmental bureaucracy.
