In Canada, add Burton Cummings, k.d. lang, Buffy St. Marie, Celine Dion, Justin Effing Bieber, maybe Bryan Adams.

ZZ Top went A2 and that could be interpreted a stretch.

Phil Collins has been around for four decades. Lead teez item.

And this board's occasional Hamletian moments about whether an act from distant yore sucked or not is one of its most charming features

If we’re going regional, Bob Seger and Smokey Robinson in Michigan and Jimmy Buffett in Florida

    Wasn’t Aretha 1A?

I don't believe 15 percent of the names listed so far would make A1, other than a possible refer, unless the person died relatively young or there was some other odd circumstance.

At some point, superstars are old and are expected to die.

Yes, Aretha was 1A. But your nickname better have "King" or "Queen'' in it.

Not sure anyone under 50 would remember Coal Miner's Daughter (I'm 51 and I remember it being a thing but I didn't see it at the time)
