True and Pastorini had an awesome post-NFL run in NHRA.

I cannot be said enough, but Bert Jones played for a terribly run franchise.
Whatever the Colts are now and have been, they were a farce under Bob Irsay.
Jones didn't stand a chance of being great playing with that club as it was run at that time.

NOW YOU SEE HIM, NOW YOU DON'T

NHRA Top Fuel racers have needed deep pockets since rear engined dragsters took control of the the AA/FD class in the early 70s. Jack Clark went broke buying Porsches but especially funding Fuelers. Pastorini was a driver and had his name on the bodywork but not sure he was a majority owner of his rail. Dragsters and Funny Cars of the era were always looking for celebrity endorsers and involvement.
Not a thread jack but thanks to Garrow for the post.

Whoever it should have been I can tell you for sure it shouldn’t have been a kicker.

  6. Agreed.
But he didn't do it all in one season!
And he beat out Dan Fouts!?!

    Puh-lease.

Wow. Who knew that Bob Irsay used to be on the Trenton City Council?

Think I remember reading Clark at one time had close to 30 cars.

The 1982 strike season was very weird. Hard to evaluate performances with a two month gap in the season. Voters reverted to "who had the best year on the best team" like it was baseball.
