Worst beers ever (AKA Beer you drank in high school)

Matts, which made beer balls, which we drank a lot of in senior year.
Matts is a brother of Utica Club. Now that is a nasty beer.

 

What happened to all these regional brews?

If there is a god, IC will go away.

 

Knickerbocker. That stuff would burn your O rings out.

Genny Cream Ale, too. That stuff reminds me of high school.

 

Iron City in those space-age aluminum bottles is a treat.

 

Worst beer was the first beer I ever had: Olympia

I've come a long way from that horrid experience.

My nominees for bad beer are (in no order): Corona, any version of the Bud or Coors and just about anything that has Light after its original name.

 

No one's brought up Grain Belt?

I was in the Minneapolis Airport Marriott and I asked the bartender for a Grain Belt? He gave me this what-the-fuck look and I said, "But it's brewed here." He said, "Seriously, no one's ever asked for one whenever I've worked."

I was in a liquor store in St. Cloud one time. They had all of the shitty beers _ Olympia, Falstaff, Hamm's, etc. And yes, even Stag.

Iron City is in bankruptcy. Could go under, depending on how benevolent the bankruptcy judge is.

 

Do they still make Stegmeier?

 

A buddy of mine challenges friends to drink a case of Olympia in a day. 24 beers, 24 hours. No one has actually done it. And we drank a lot back then.

 

Hamms is the worst beer I ever had. In fact, we all had one sip and stopped drinking it. And this was in high school when you'll pretty much drink anything (although I guess my beer snobbery was starting to take place at this moment, I guess).

In college, a guy we knew once bought a keg of Milwaukee's Best. A keg, I say. It was fine for $4 a case if you had no cash (or were cheap), but for a party you have to splurge a little! (And the beer did in fact suck)

 

For parties, you always gotta buy kegs of the good stuff. Even if the kegs go to waste, you need to treat your guests well.
