Worse collapse?

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Pringle, Sep 27, 2006.

?

Which has been the more spectacular collapse over the last week?

  1. St. Louis Cardinals squander most of 8 1/2 G lead

    58.8%
  2. Michigan State vs. Notre Dame

    41.2%

so, you let the MVP candidate beat you with a slumping Scott Rolen on deck?
nice bit of managing there by Bochy.

Ya gotta walk pujols -- he's the best hitter in the game

I don't agree with that strategy with the uniformity of most, but since the tying run was already in scoring position and there were two outs, and Rolen has been sucking wind... I would have walked him.

That said, I would rarely walk the bases loaded that late in the game.

Most pitchers just can't handle it and often walk the next guy.

  6. It's worse than that: Scott Spiezio was on deck.
However, Meredith had struck out Pujols on three pitches the night before, so that had to be why Bochy let him pitch to Albert.
Houston is going to have to win out to have a shot at forcing a playoff.
I can't see the Cards losing more than 2 out of the 4 with Milwaukee and possibly 1 with SF.

Want to know why they will collapse?

Tony La Russa is now senile.
He hit Juan Encarnation behind Pujols instead of Rolen tonight.

And the lead is down to a half game now. 9-4 Brewers.

    Suck it Tony.

This is great. In the absense of a Royals and/or Pirates postseason run, this would make my season.

I caught the last out of the game last night and what followed had to be the quickest post-game close in the history of televised baseball. I think they threw it back to the studio in about 30 seconds. Funny as hell.

Me too. Funny how MU and KU homers can agree on a common hatred of all things St. Louis.
