Canada goes into the third with a 4-2 lead, Russia ties and Kovalchuk wins it in OT.

Nash was in the box for a delay of game penalty.

Fedorov, Ovechkin, Semin and Kovalchuk were on the power play. Scary.

May have been one of the best hockey games I've seen in years.

As Gord Miller said, "A display of skill and will".

First time since '93 the Russians have won.

Still no teev here in the States. Therefore, I can only assume none of this ever happened. :D

However, we are getting Pens-Flyers and Memorial Cup right now.

Surprised that you get the Memorial Cup but not the World Championship.

The first two games of the Mem Cup went into OT. Great great hockey.

The Canada-Russia game was fantastic, despite the hysterics of the loathsome Pierre McGuire. Good to see my boy Brent Burns, a kid I've known since he was a 16-year-old right winger who could fly, named top defenceman (even though he didn't make the all-star team for some reason).

Tough luck for the Canadians but those were two world-class shots from Kovalchuk.

Mem Cup has been terrific. I was at the Spokane-Belleville game yesterday and Spokane sure can play some suffocating D. They are doing the same thing against Kitch right now.

You were at yesterday's Mem Cup game? Bastard.

I keep forgetting Burns played for Brampton.

NHL Network shows the Memorial Cup games. Not sure who, if anybody, has worlds rights down here.

Big upset today in Memorial round-robin play.

Spokane totally shut down Kitchener (the Rangers opener with Gatineau was wide open, end-to-end stuff).

The Chiefs did the same thing to Belleville in the first half of their game but the Bulls managed to capitalize on the few chances they did have the rest of the way.

Today's game between Gatineau and Belleville should be really entertaining.

    No one had the Worlds.

Cherry ranted about the the delay of game penalty on Coach's Corner.

Ken Hitchcock had no problem with it in the story that ran in today's Toronto Sun:

You're forgetting the World Championship Sports Network.....

It was a penalty. Cherry's always ranting about that and no-touch icing.

And my favourite quote on the game was from Kovalchuk:

"God was on our side a little more than them"

God needed the Russians to win a world championship.
