I posted it in the Anything Goes forum under the title..."Most Elaborate Athlete Pranks."

    It was something though.

    Poor guy.

    This is funny?

It does remind me of the Bob Serv story.

"Not many people know this, but one of us just got traded to Kansas City."

Just out of curiosity, what did Kendrick do to deserve this elaborate hoax?

I mean, it's great, but why him?

That's what I get for not looking it up first.

I'm just curious, would anyone here participate in helping pull this off?

The Philly News beat writer was obviously cool with helping out.

I've asked B.S. questions before, but only to coaches or players I've covered for a long while and knew could take joke. But those college and high school guys. And the questions were usually ice breakers after easy wins by the team I was covering.

Not sure I could pull it off or want to with a pro athlete.

He had a great season last year and finished quite well in the NL ROY voting. Plus, he's all sorts of gullible.

I'm thinking the gullibility was a key factor.

    Goddamn, that was funny.

Just another reason to root for the phils over the Mets, whose stumbling bumbling idiot of a PR guy never could have pulled off something like that.
