Poin's right. You can make a point without throwing your friends and relatives under the bus. That's being an asshole.

Maybe he was right. I don't know. I still wouldn't double-barrel blast someone like that out of nowhere. There was a tangent about Facebook culture. I contributed, in a stream-of-consciousness manner. I apologize.

I agree. I am multitasking and didn't take the requisite time to properly convey my thoughts in a more delicate manner. But my point remains, even if it makes me an asshole for saying it: You always bring up idiot facebook friends, and some idiots talking about the Lord Jesus Christ is not germane to this thread.

So you honestly believe her intent in staging that photo was to be disrespectful to fallen soldiers rather than to demonstrate to her peer group her oh-so-clever visual "disobedience" of a posted sign? Personally, I doubt she has any animosity toward our fallen soldiers and that the sign just sparked a bad idea for showing off.

In response to your questions: I suppose it would require what I deem to be an intentional and angry demonstration of genuine disrespect, like pissing on a gravestone or provoking a grieving relative. Maturity comes at different ages for different people. There are many immature people in their 20s. I was immature in my early 20s. I did stupid things. Plenty of them. I'm glad I didn't have an opportunity to memorialize those stupid things on Facebook.

I was unaware that you were the fucking Board Police, unleashing your cyber-billy club on anyone who slightly strays from the topic at hand. Which I would argue I didn't even do.

*It doesn't matter whether she has any animosity toward fallen soldiers. People do disrespectful stuff all the time to others, with no animosity involved.
*Okay, so the line has been drawn. Pissing on a grave is disrespectful. Giving the finger to the Arlington sign is not. Fair enough. Each person has a different line drawn.
*I don't buy the "I did stupid stuff in my 20's, so therefore its alright for this chick to give the finger in Arlington" argument. I read it on this message board a lot. Just because you or others did idiotic, or disrespectful, or illegal stuff (not that this was illegal) doesn't make it okay when others do it.

Of course, no one said anything close to this.

You appear to be exhibiting faux outrage.

Here are my questions: Why do you or anybody else here give a flying fuck about this? And why would you or anyone else derive satisfaction from seeing this person further humiliated?

Seems kind of pathetic to me. Get yourselves a real cause.

You're only responsible for the logical, reasonably forseeable consequences of your actions.

"Post a silly picture on Facebook" does not logically lead to "Become the object of a national campaign of ridicule and get fired."

People just like being dicks to other people, and the Internet provides fertile ground for people who "deserve" it so that we don't even have to feel bad about being a dick to her.
