I think craps scares me a little bit more than blackjack, b/c at least I know how to play blackjack albeit not well enough to play in a casino where other people are gambling money and liable to be quite pissed at me when I hit on 16.

Craps is like astrophysics to me.

Yeah, but let's face it, Chutes and Ladders is like atsrophysics to you.

I hate those people. When I gamble, I do it for my own enjoyment and hopefully to win -- in that order. If I feel like hitting on whatever I want when the dealer's showing 10 or splitting my 9s, then I will. If you don't like it, go to another table. (And don't fucking give me the evil eye, old lady. I'm not here to help the TABLE win; I'm here to help ME win. ::))

I know there's a prevalent myth that bad players negatively affect everyone else at the table, but the fact is that bad players don't hurt YOU any more than they help you with moves that aren't "by the book." Because some of those dumb moves, on any individual hand, may actually turn out to help the entire table win, too. In the short term -- and for the great majority of casino gamblers, nobody's playing long enough at any table to affect the odds -- those so-called dumb moves aren't likely to have much effect.

Yup. I only play minimum bet blackjack tables. If someone to my left throws out 25 or more on a hand, and my decision is a toss up, I'll just ask them what they want me to do.

That's precisely my problem...all the wrinkles of blackjack (whole split on 9s/dealer showing 10) always confuse the shit out of me. Maybe I'm just not a natural blackjack player or something. But I like poker b/c it's pretty cut and dried 99 pct of the time. Either you've got something worth betting on or you don't. Sure, occassionally you might have trip aces and some dude is anteing up and you have to figure out if he's got two spades to pair with the three on the board or if he's got the three and the five to go along with the 2-3-4-6 on the board or if he's just a fuckin tool.

But most of the time you're able to just ponder your own hand and do what you want without worrying about everyone else at the table.

I'm kind of surprised nobody's throwing blunt objects at me. :D

Well, it would've been either you or me, but you beat me to it.

45 minutes for me at the Hilton Flamingo in Vegas, July 2002. 72 rolls of the dice. Converted three consecutive 8s -- the hard way. I rolled sevens on a couple of come outs, and three consecutive 12s in the middle. But when I have the dice, I only play the pass line, the field and my point the hard way (if I'm pointing an even, obviously).

By the time I got to a fourth 8 for my point, the 8 the hard way looked like the Vegas Strip, piles and piles of chips.

I won about $500 (keystroke! I should preview first ...), enough to buy me and my family tickets to see Wayne Newton (which was awesome), as well as golf for me and my brother and still walk away from the week up a couple hundred.

The Iowegian standing next to me made about $2,000. A guy at the opposite end won more than $30,000. I was playing $5 chips, he was playing $100s.

It was the best thrill of my gambling life.

I used to love craps in college and its intoxicating because its the only game where everyone can cheer for what's going on. Compare to blackjack or roulette where its just background noise.

Plus, there are so many bets that can go on in each roll. Its a high when the dice are hot and the shooter keeps avoiding the "seven out" but really sucks when the dice are cold and the seven out is every other roll. For each roll, you could conceivably have nearly 10 bets on the table.

The best payoffs are scored....well forget it its too complicated, just know that if someone/anyone was playing the "odds" (which means you get the true odds on the payoffs and the house is not favored) in a four hour round you could really score huge.

Forget the time of her roll, the number of throws was what's impressive ...

I disagree. These dumb moves not only impact me, but they take the upper hand held by the players and give it to the house, and every player should have a problem with that.

You want to throw your money away? Fine. Just don't throw mine away, too.
