Woman in Atlantic City rolls the bones for four hours

I'm not so impressed by the time, it could have been lengthened by people buying in, dice going off the table, etc.

I'm impressed by the 154 rolls, I wonder how many times she got the point across that span? The more times she hit it, the more times she would make money since she was the roller, and by casino rules has to play the pass line. I wish this story was more in depth.

Of course, lets wait a week and find out if this story is real or not.

Holding for four hours is amazing. I used to play craps all the time when I lived in Vegas, on my best night I think I held the dice for 20 minutes.

I did win $1,900 in one night once, that was pretty cool.

Who plays don't come on someone who has been rolling for 4+ hours? If anyone did, they deserved to lose every penny they lost.

You're right about the hard ways, though, and she might just as well been throwing her money away on field bets, too. Still, I'm inclined to think she made a grip of money.

If this story is true, I'm with RossLT. It's freaking amazing.

Quick craps primer for those unfamiliar with the game. Most of those bets on the table are sucker bets you want no part of. The only bets to concern yourself with are the pass/don't pass, the come/don't come and the odds bets.

The game is simple. You throw the dice. If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 come up, that becomes your point. If you're betting with yourself (the shooter) on the pass line, you want to throw that number BEFORE you throw a 7.

If you're betting AGAINST the shooter, you want the shooter to throw a 7 before that number. Since there are more ways to throw a 7 than any other number, the odds (2-1 on a 4 or 10/3-2 on a 5 or 9 and 6-5 on a 6 or Eight) that you'll throw a 7 before that number.

As the shooter, once you establish a point and throw a 7, you're done and the dice moves to the person on your left.

THAT's what made that all the more remarkable; that a shooter could hold the dice for more than four hours and 154 rolls. The longest I've held the dice was about 20 minutes and while I made about $400, I made a couple of extras from "Good Fellas" at the end of the table about 10 grand.

I was in Vegas once with a group of friends. One of my buddies rolled for about a half hour. The croupier and others in the pit were very impressed. So yeah, four hours, awesome.

I don't want to put too much thought into this, but essentially she threw dice for four hours and never rolled a seven?

    Wow.

Doing the math, it averages a little more than a roll every two minutes. As she caught fire, I am sure it took forever between rolls to get everybody's bets down.

154 rolls (including come-out rolls, etc) without a 'seven-out' is spectacular.

Technically, she could have (and probably did) roll a seven, but not while a point had been established (you probably knew that). I played for the first time in years this weekend, in Vegas. I don't recall a roll of more than five minutes.

No, my knowledge of craps is limited completely to seeing "Luck Be A Lady Tonight" a couple of times during Guys & Dolls.

For relatively new players (the story said this was just her second time playing), they generally don't carried away with a lot of one-roll bets and playing the field.
