woman attacked on subway platform, workers basically do nothing

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by jps, Apr 13, 2009.

  1. So what are are the MTA employees supposed to be trained to do. Yell "stop?"
The waiting there for the police to arrive seemed like the right call to me - especially if I am the MTA.
Aside from doing the heroic, these guys were in a no-win situation.

I don't know what I would have done.

But I'd like to think I'd have done more than these people.

    All I got.

it's certainly on another level, for sure. I'd like to believe there are special places in hell for folks, and he just might deserve one.

Her statements doesn't strike me as strange if she is filling a lawsuit against the MTA.

Why isn't she suing the rapists?

    Maybe I would have too.

But maybe I would have froze.

But maybe they would have thrown her into the path of a train.

But maybe they would have pulled a knife and stabbed her.

But maybe they would have pulled a gun and shot her.

But maybe they would have gone on a shooting spree.

A lot of maybes. And a lot of bad going to worse endings.

Know what you can do. But know that in the zero hour, it may be all you can do just to pull your phone to call 911.

Best I can do is say that I hope my body does in crisis what my mind knows to do in peace.

    Well said, Meat.

For anyone to suggest that sportschick would not do anything within her power to stop a rape is incomprehensible.

Compounding that suggestion with sneers about Internet tough guys is beneath contempt.

    Completely agreed on that point.

agreed, tart - folks here have no idea as to the personal history of posters and they have absolutely no idea why I (or others, like sc) would do anything in my power to stop something like this if I had the opportunity.
