Yikes ... what has happened there? ... Sunday sports section this week is just eight (smaller) pages with only five photos and two mugs throughout ... uggg... four pages don't have any photos at all -- complete text top to bottom, with plain helvetica type fonts ... why send a photog (who is very good) to the State-Wake game and run just one of her photos the next day, when Wake won a big game? ... how is this enticing people to buy the product?

Sorry to rant, there are lots of good people in WS ... but what is MG hoping to accomplish with this revamped (translated: going cheaper) look?

At least they have a design.

We have 50% our design, 50% Tribune modules. Different type faces, different page grid, information that often is duplicated elsewhere in our section.

    Cluster. Meet Fuck.

I can't believe MG actually approved the expenditure to have someone do that redesign (which looks like sh*t) ... if they were so hard up to change the paper's look, why not let their own designers take a shot at it?

I'm just baffled by a sports section that basically downplays photos/graphics on every page but the front ... sunday's front looked solid, then you go inside and it's seven pages of text...
