Wilt Chamberlain once told a fan he could tell him the secret of slam dunking in 3 easy steps, for $20 (fairly big money in the 70s). The guy said "ok you're on" and they walked on a court.

Wilt grabs a ball and says, "OK, step one, grab the ball."
    "Step two, jump."
    "Step three, slam it."

    He jams it.

"That's the secret of dunking. That'll be $20."

Dude says, "Secret of dunking, WTF? What kind of secret is that?"

Wilt says, "Always works for me, motherfucker. Now where's my $20?"

    Epilogue

The pissed-off fan says to Wilt:
    "How's the weather up there?"
Wilt says, "Not bad. But I hear it's gonna rain down there."

Then spits right on the top of his head.

    When you’re 7-1, there’s no damn secret.

Before I fucked up my Achilles as a sophomore one of our 6-3 seniors who could dunk told me his workout regimen that gave him his hops.

Wilt invited a bunch of people over after his Bel-Air home was completed, among them Jim Murray.

Murray, describing the decor in the paper the next day, called it something like "South American bat cave."

He and Wilt didn't get along after that.

I don't think Wilt got along with Murray much before then, either.
