OK I know it isn't that drastic yet, but losing McDonalds has to be a blow. What I didn't realize is it is a growing trend.

At least we got a classic Simpsons episode out of it.

I always thought the last few notes of The Drive-By Truckers' "The Day John Henry Died" sounded like the start of the McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It" jingle.

Will the Olympics ever give in an allow sponsors signage at venues like, oh, every other sport, or continue to rival the NCAA for perpetuating an image of purity that just isn't true?

I urge them to find a way to keep McDonald's in the media center.

(Honestly, you think all the stories that come out every Olympics about all the foreign athletes lined up at McDonald's would be nearly priceless. Turns out, not quite priceless.)

I'm going to guess "no" on that one. The IOC is in desperate need of a shakeup/disbanding/rebuild, but I think that'd been seen as steps in the wrong direction.

I can tell you that the venues were just about the only place in Atlanta that didn't have sponsor signage. The other Olympics I attended the sponsors were less visible. I get why some US-centric brands dropped out. They're never gonna sell Bud in Australia, Japan or Europe. But Citi does. International banks have a wide reach.
