  2. No - he doesn't deserve election

  3. No - he deserves election but HIV issues and steroid fueled numbers from other players will keep him

Larkin spent a lot of his career hurt, I would estimate about 450-500 games lost. He gets those three seasons of games back and he is an easy HOF choice.

Alomar had three seasons where he miss significant time. Larkin had about nine.

Neither argument is enough. You have to look beyond the awards.

Alomar and Larkin are remarkably similar in some areas. Alomar finished his career with a .300 average, .371 on-base percentage and .443 slugging. Larkin ended his at .295/.371/.444. They were fairly close in home runs, too, where Alomar has a 210-198 edge.

But that time Larkin missed had an impact. Alomar has 174 more RBI, 179 more runs scored and 95 more stolen bases, a very large gap among two guys who relied on their legs as a big part of their games.

Alomar shouldn't have been left off of anyone's ballot the first time around. An absurd injustice.

The fact that 27 percent of writers said that Robbie Alomar is not a Hall of Famer shows how broke the system is.

I know of a couple voters who did not vote for him first time around because of the Hirschbeck incident but will vote for him this year.
He's almost a lock to get in.

Based on what's come out regarding that incident over the years, I think I respect Alomar more for spitting on Hirschbeck.

Hirschbeck forgave Alomar for that. The writers should too.

Larkin has a tougher road than Alomar b/c shortstop changed so dramatically during their careers. Barry Larkin, by the measurements of a 1986 shortstop, is a slam-dunk HOFer. But A-Rod, Jeter, Nomar and Tejada redefined the position (albeit with the help of modern "medicine" in at least two and very likely three cases) so that Larkin's numbers, much like Omar Vizquel's, pale in comparison.

Alomar, meanwhile, compares to the very best of the best all-time at second base.

Did Cobb do something worse than knowingly, and on multiple occasions, spread a potentially fatal, and, at best, chronic, disease?

Well, by his own (debatable) account, Cobb killed a mugger in about 1910, although if his story was true, he could probably get off on self-defense.

Even if that is true about Alomar - and it's still only been alleged at this point - it has nothing whatsoever to do with what he accomplished on the diamond.

Alomar is a classic porn case, "I know a HOFer when I see one." He was the flashiest, best fielding 2nd baseman from 1970-2010, and he hit .300 I believe 9 of 10 years, and with power (ask Eck in 1991), and he won 2 rings. He was one of the absolute best players I ever saw. HIV? What you have a problem with the Babe's womanizing, is he not a HOF'er then?

He makes Sandberg look like a player from the 20's, Alomar was superior to him in every facet of the game, all the 5 tools (he even caught pop ups!) Whitaker? He hit .300 once. Alomar is a lifetime .300 hitter.

Alomar having to wait is a travesty and simply shows the ignorance of the voters.
