Wilbon doesn't see why Pearlman wrote about Payton

    A question on the SI excerpt. It wasn't clear to me whether the article was excerpted from the book or adapted from the book. I figure an excerpt is a specific portion of the book, an adaptation might be bits and chunks from different parts of a book.
    I think it makes a difference because I really doubt Pearlman would dump all the "juicy" stuff into a few pages of the book - plus it read a bit like they cobbled together different sections.
    this also does give the impression that the book is a lot more "negative" than it likely is.

    I think I remember reading one of Pearlman's reaction blog pieces where he said all of the excerpt came from chapter 24.
