Your definition of tolerable is apparently much different than mine.

There's certainly some nostalgia to old stadiums, especially for people my age who are old enough to recall when the stadium was functional and games were played there.

In Houston, the old Astrodome sits vacant and no one seems to have a clue what to do with it.

Nostalgia aside, everything wears out eventually. Ballparks are no exception. Heck, since Dodger Stadium was built, the Minnesota Twins are on their third park.

So are the Pirates, Reds, Phillies & Astros.

Technically so are the Brewers, Nationals & Rangers but they've all played in two different cities.

aren't the Nats on their fifth park? (Jerry Park, Olympic Stadium, the park in San Juan where they played half their games just before the move, one year in RFK and Nationals Park)

So are the Cardinals. They were still playing at Sportsman's Park when Dodger Stadium was built.

Mets are on their third park, too. They played in the Polo Grounds the first two years.
So are the Yankees. They had the original Yankee Stadium, Shea during the 1970s renovations, then the new Yankee Stadium. And it's technically four if you count pre- and post-renovation Yankee Stadium as two different parks.

    In Cubs' terms, it is.

If you really wanted to be technical, the Nats are on their fourth park, seeing that they had some "home" games in Puerto Rico.

Pretty good postseason, tho . . . 11-1, sweeping the Red Sox, winning four of five from the side which gives the Yanks more trouble than any other (Angels), and shooing closest pals Clemens and Petitte away on their way to sweeping the Stros.

When did watching baseball and drinking cold beer become not good enough? Who the fuck cares where it's played? Shea was a dump but most Mets fans will tell you they'd rather have it back then the current cathedral.

Save aura and gestalt for the old and easily bored.

I'd still rather be in Baltimore's Memorial Stadium than anything out there now.
