The most millennial line ever written:

The Times really seemed to want me, so much that they offered a salary bump for a dog-walker when I expressed concern about leaving Oscar at home all day.

She must not have stayed long enough to get Election Night pizza. That would've solved everything.

Here is the LAObserved version. This guy is a former LAT staffer who monitors the paper closely.
Here's his opening before the excerpt of the story:

Devon Maloney came and went quickly as pop music editor of the Los Angeles Times. I never heard her name mentioned in the four months she was there, but there's probably no reason that I would have.

She hated life as a young female editor at the LA Times

For what it's worth, I just looked at her Twitter page and don't think I understood a single fucking thing on it, except that she's a trekkie.

Oh, she's digital ... let's make her an editor.

Two things I can reliably tell you about Devin Maloney, I believe:

    1. She will have a hash tag for her wedding some day;
    2. Her lack of income will not stop her from eating at many, many restaurants, and trying many, many dishes.

    My thoughts:

    1. She needs an editor.
    2. I cannot believe the LA Times hired her in that position.
    3. Newspapers, however, have poor track records of finding, retaining or promoting good managers.
    4. They would have had to drag me out the door if they job paid close to what she made it sound like. Don't care how much I hated it.
    5. I wish I had a dog walker

My dog walker costs more than my car each month. Not cool.

Well she also seems very emotionally stable.

Hope he/she is winning the Westminster, or beating some of Mike Vick's dogs in big-money fights.
