Why hasn't anyone written a Kobe Bryant biography?

Am I the only person that hated Leavy's Koufax book?

The last book signing I did, I signed 200 books.

That said, I'm leaving out quite a bit of the story. :D

I thought it was OK. She's a good writer, but she can be a little over reliant on quotes. Her biography approach is interesting, because she can't write it straight. She needs some sort of narrative device. The perfect game in "Koufax." Mantle hitting on her in "The Last Boy."

Most autobiographies suck because the authors/athletes glaze over the most controversial points in their career. Agassi's was a very, very notable exception.

I did one at a college bookstore before a football game. Some older lady - probably in her 70s - pulled up the chair next to me, at the table, for at least 45 minutes to an hour, because she couldn't find her friend, and she was "tired." She chewed my ear off the entire time. Then walked off without buying a book.

It is unreal how much nerve people have at a book signing.

Unless you're a celebrity, you're not going to sell many books at a signing.

But you do them anyway, because there's almost always some kind of advertising (sign in the window, local newspaper ads) that helps promote the book. And while you're there, be sure to sign the entire inventory because a signed book is non-returnable.

This is very true. That's not the reason I signed 200 once though. My reason is actually more embarrassing than that.
