    What the fuck kind of priss-ass Victorian bullshit is that?

    It's a site for journalists. Journalists swear. Why the fuck would kids want to read what a bunch of us have to say in the first place? Why in the fuck would anyone worry about whether I say fuck on forum, when all the free porn in the world -- and believe me, Mike311 has found it all -- is just a click away? And why in the fuck would I care if kids read words like fuck? They're words. Fuck. Shit. Cocksucker.

    See, nothing happens. Just words. Motherfucker.

    What harm do swear words do to anyone, children included?

    What virtue do they lack that all other words posess?

    And what right do you have to attempt to restrict others discourse in order to control that of your children?

    Would it be OK if I really hated the color green, and decided to undertake a national campaign to stop people from wearing green because I didn't want my children exposed to it?

    And while you're at it, please compose a list of those words you deem acceptable and those that cross the line. Because I want to call you an assbag, but I don't know if that's a swear word or just funny.

    Fucker.

    That's a Spike Lee joint. ::)

    It IS about censorship. It's about your desire to censor a word because you equate it with "doing the wrong thing." But sometimes, in the real world, "fuck" is the right word to use in a given situation. Doesn't make me wrong any more than you not using it makes you right ... except in your own head.

    And, Zeke? "Don Henley" is not a swear word. Just so you know.

    I don't have a problem with bloggers in general, but I have a problem with many bloggers who post on this site. In a majority of your posts, eyeonsportsmedia, you have promoted your blog through links and saying "in this interview" or "in this blog I created." It seems that you are around for your own promotion, like another former member of this site that many of us remember. Likewise, thebiglead also plugs his blog any chance he gets. If you want to get views for your blog by plugging it in your posts, congratulations, I doubt it's going to work here.

    Secondly, there are just too many blogs out there these days with the advent of blogger.com and all of those sites. Anyone can get on there and create a blog with no journalistic merit. Most blogs, are in fact, like yours, copy and pasted material and links.

    Lastly, a blog off a newspaper's web site is completely different than a regular blog, simply because it can provide information that does not get printed in the paper itself. Plus, then I know, if it's John Doe's blog on USC Football from the LA Times, I can respect it. I can't really respect an anonymous blog, since it could be a guy blowing his German Shepard in his basement, and then saying he knows stuff about a particular team.

    Well, in Eye's defense, I can understand where he's coming from. The language on here really isn't PG, but I still don't think many, if any, 8-year-olds visit this site. I usually keep my posts clean, not for kids' sake but since I think they detract from the point you're trying to make, but I certainly won't ask it of anyone else, especially on a site that in part serves as a forum for overworked, underpaid, and under-appreciated people to vent.
