Why do people hate the ACLU so much?

I consider state endorsement of monogamy to be state-sponsored religiosity. That's not a majority interpretation, but we're all entitled to our interpretation.
You take an absolutist approach on the issue of state and religion. Others take an absolutist approach on the issue of the state and gun control.
There is room for multiple personal interpretation, if not multiple inforcement.

When the ACLU quits calling its shots and starts doing the work that groups like FIRE are actually doing, they'll have some of my support. Until then, nada.

Between 1850 and now, did Massachusetts turn into a theocracy?
    Didn't think so.

So, hondo, it's OK for government to violate the constitution at first, as long as they don't go too far?

  5. Yes, because we kept religion and the government far away from each other, and are happier for it.
Also, gay people can get married here. Pass it along.

Maybe you should move to entire state to Canada.

    These stances sound strikingly familiar:

    1. There must be separation of church and state. That requirement is written in the constitution, and any proximity between church and state or appearance of proximity will lead to theocracy.

    B. U.S. citizens must be allowed to own guns. That right is written into the constitution, and any perceived infringment, limitation or encroachment upon that right will lead to the government taking all guns away from every law-abiding citizen, leaving law-abiding citizens as the victims of criminals and, ultimately, the government itself.

Hondo, just because it's never happened doesn't mean the potential for such a move doesn't exist. Surely even you recognize that.

Bottom line, my only knock on the ACLU is that they steal babies and sacrifice them for devil worship. Other than that, they're aces.

But it is not in violation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights to have a manger scene on a courthouse lawn. The ACLU simply has people convinced that it does.

People -- including lawyers and Supreme Court justices.

  12. So is it fair to say that it's mostly the Ten Commandments, manger, Pledge of Allegiance, Christianity stuff?
