Why bother profiling when you can just cast a large French net?

  2. This is pretty bad.
But, Ragu, we're the ones who put it all in writing. WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER.

As shitty as some of the things we have done... We are still better.

And even at a low point, such as right now, we aren't insufferable hypocrites.

  4. Oh, holy hell.
    Of course we are.
Every time the president says, "We do not torture," we go eight lengths ahead again.

I'm sorry but why are we surprised at this?

As much as I love France, the French have a well-documented racist past. Do you think these news reports that Poindexter posts about riots in the Muslim sections of France have anything to do with religion?

The president does lots of things I don't agree with. But I've yet to see him lecture another country like a parent talking to a child, and then turn around and exhibit hypocritical behavior no better than what he was grandstanding about. You'd be the first to complain about the fact that Bush acts unilaterally, without much regard for other country's ideas or affairs.

Hate Bush. It's a different argument. It doesn't change the fact that the French national consciousness is morally bankrupt.

JR, Kind of have to call you out on this. If that story had been about American behavior at JFK airport, you'd be ranting up a storm about the 300-pound, immoral gorilla who always does wrong. But the story is about the French. So instead, your response is, "Oh, that's just the French being French. No big surprise."

Ragu, the French make no bones about being racists.

I doubt for a second that it would happen at JFk for the simple fact it'd cause a huge shitstorm.

    Ragu,

What's up with morals today? You feelin' guilty?

Ace, Nah. I'm just a moral kinda guy. Ask anyone around here who knows me. I help old ladies cross the street. I don't eat or wear any animal products. When the clerk at the store gives me back too much change, I hand back the extra money. I'm exceedingly courteous. I volunteer for a variety of causes in underserved neighborhoods. I'm kind and forgiving. And I speak very little French.
