Why aren't we griping about gas prices?

It's varied from about $2.40 to $2.70 here for a while, but I have noticed it creeping up more often than it creeps down lately.
My commute is over 100 miles roundtrip, and I buy between six and eight tanks of gas a month. This morning I added up what I spent in the first three months of the year on gas, and it was about $640. Last year it was $387. In 2008 it was $687. Last year I spent almost $1,000 less on gas than I did in 2008, but if this keeps up it's almost like getting socked with a tax increase.

Yep. Escalade Central here. I'm up to seven of them now.

Cripes. Sure, a lot of US drive Escalades.

The worst of our three cars gets about 28 mpg. My wife just bought a car that is so small I asked her if it was illegal to drive on the interstate. There's a button on it and you press it and it folds up like George Jetson's briefcase. It's BRIGHT yellow. And it gets about 50 per.

That place has sucked for years and years. I had to fill up there a couple of times on visits to DC (my best friend lived in HoVa at the time). They were gouging even then.

They must be paying off the right people. Like I said, it's at least 50 cents more per gallon than the other gouging station I pass regularly. Gas was over $1 cheaper just across the bridge.

    That's my thoughts.

But it's so far off the back burner of the mainstream, it makes me wonder if they're being told NOT to talk about it.

The reason is simple: Summer's coming. We Americans drive more. Therefore, prices go up so lots of people makes lots of cash.

What sucks is that my son just got his driver's license and first car. He'll be learning some simple rules of economics really quickly.

I'd honestly rather pump my own. Do you tip the person who pumps your gas?

I don't care who's in office, every time I see gas prices inch up, it pisses me off.

And Mr. I'm Too Cool To Drive, I drive a crappy old Ford Escort. So take that and shove it up your hybrid exhaust system!
