Why Are People Posting Political Threads?

One particular contingent (in fact, a couple of individuals) seem bent on continually trying to end-run the prohibition.

 

Sorry, I've seen the spirit of the ban on politics threads broken on both sides.

I agree with what Waylon said earlier. It is absurd for journalists to be unable to discuss major news. I'm not necessarily saying the bans haven't been warranted, but the combination of factors that ends up leaving "the Internet's most popular gathering place for journalists" with a ban on discussing major news stories -- which some political stories ultimately are -- is sad.
