Why all the over-the-top mourning for President Ford?

    "Hollywood types"?

And what does that mean, exactly?

I, for example, fail to see many parallels between "types" like the Governator or George Clooney or Clint Eastwood, extremely intelligent men with a curiosity that expands far beyond their immediate surroundings, and Lindsay Lohan. But whatever Rush says, I guess.

And goes bonkers when a post-teen strumpet climbs out of a limousine with no panties on??

(I always wanted to say 'strumpet.' ;D )

Lot of news coverage of the three most recent popes dying, too. And Diana Spencer, too. Why should anyone be surprised when it's one of our own?

Go back to the original post. It ended with:

"Did we do all this for President Reagan?"

That's your starting point. (The answer to the above, of course, is: did we ever!)

Actually, I'd say Bennett's point is an apt one.

    Big deal
Like it's a big deal that Gerald Ford said what everyone else has know for the past two years?

My only complaint is that he should have let Woodward print it immediately.

I think it's the easy way for Bennett to avoid the central issue, that Ford thought the war was a bad idea. What good does it do to debate whether Ford should have said it? He did and he's dead.

Ford's thoughts are important because he employed some of the people he criticized.
