    I don't know if I would consider either obscure, but I've always been surprised that The New Pornographers and Dashboard Confessional haven't been more mainstream...

    I just listened to both of The National's albums and I like them a lot. I don't know if they've been mentioned or if they would even be considered obscure, but Spoon is absolutely fantastic. Just came out with a new album, too.

    Also, if anyone likes Interpol, She Wants Revenge is similar and a good listen.
