Big Marvin Andrew played center back for Rangers for a few years. He was a deeply religious man and when the ligaments in his knee were torn, it was stated that the man needed surgey. He refused surgery and instead opted for prayer as the method of recovery.

He missed the next day as the team was trying to convince him to get the surgery and be out only a few weeks. He continued to refuse and was back on the pitch about two weeks after the injury. He played the remaining games (approximately 25) with an injury that nobody can even comprehend the amount of pain that he must have been going through.

His career at Ranger ended shorly after the season ended. He never did get the surgery and he still plays for some lower division team. That guy was tough.

  7. Exclude UFC and MMA guys and you're basically making this the NIT for tough guys.

  8. But at least it includes guys I've heard of.

Allen Iverson is a durable 6-foot guard who could score 30,000 career points in the NBA. He ought to be in the discussion.
