Joss Stone is the sort of talent that can restore a person's faith in the future of music.

I read a few days ago that Jewel released a new album during the summer months. Boy, she has fallen nearly off the planet. I didn't even know she was still alive. I'm not a huge Jewel fan, but it'd beat the damned song I keep hearing on VH-1's Top 20 Countdown. There are about five women singing what appears to be the same song. Is there a name for this new and fashionable role of female divas pretending to be hard-ass bitches. I mean, Gwen Stefani couldn't fight her way out of a wet paper bag, but she's sort of swinging over to an old-school Brooklyn sound with her latest hit single, which sounds almost exactly like Fergie's bit hit. In fact, Gwen even looks like Fergie in the video...to the point that I had to question whether she was playing some sort of Weird Al joke.
