The bastard child of Stalin and Hitler. In other words, a tie with Benito Mussolini as the maid of dishonor.

I'll give a nod to Pope Urban II who led the first Crusades in 1095, forever justifying fighting wars in the name of God.

"I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ's heralds to publish this everywhere and to persuade all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it meant also for those who are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it."

Who needed the first commandment anyway?

  9. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me?

I'm guessing you were aiming for number 6 (#5 for the Catholics in the audience).

    Tim Berners-Lee.

Because of him we have threads like this.

As a Knicks fan, I've got to go with Charles Smith.
As a realist, I've got to go with Stalin.

    Tough call.

    It's like a HOF vote.

Who do you like: Stalin, Hitler of Genghis Khan?

Pol Pot for an honourable mention, maybe.

Question is, who do you get to vote on this--the History Writers of the World?
