Who is the most under-rated band ever?

I second The Pixies and The Replacements

Journey is so timeless as well. It's tough to listen to Styx anymore, but Journey is so good (especially for 80s movies that involve college and Rodney Dangerfield).

Built to Spill is pretty amazing as is Beck for the newer bands.

  3. Beck is incredible.

I will get killed for typing this, but when Bill Simmons reccomends a band, I find that I also like them.

  5. Broken Social Scene, The Walkmen, Wilco, Rancid...

Sorry, Jason. But Rancid may go into the list of over-rated.

    For this topic: The Misfits.

    The Who.

    Jackson Browne.

  10. I like Rancid, but I won't argue with your assessment.

The Cars are very underrated... I have their Greatest Hits double CD and there isn't a bad song on it...

It seems every time I see a list like this, Sonic Youth is mentioned... Not so sure I agree...
