I hate Jeter, but the SOB always seems to come up with a play when the Stankees need it.
A-fRaud, on the other hand, ....
If Robert Horry is "Big Shot Bob", is A-Rod then "6-4-3" or "Punchout with runners on the corners" Rodriguez in October?

There's a difference between being the best in that role and one of the best players in baseball.

You mean like that fat .176 he hit against the Indians in last year's ALDS?

Or maybe the .200 he hit against Boston in 2004?

Or perhaps it was even the combined 6-for-44 he hit in the 2001 ALCS and World Series.

He's been living off the reputation he built early in his career for the last five years. He's been no better in the postseason recently than A-Rod.

No way. Aquilino was one of the best closers last season.

    In the minors.

  7. The correct answer would be: Joe Mauer.

He's too soft to be overrated.

My only thing is, who thinks Beltran is that great any more? Doesn't an overrated player, by definition, have to be hailed as one of the game's greats? I don't think anyone who's been paying attention has put Beltran in that category for a while.

    Agreed.

Jeter doesn't belong on this thread and he certainly isn't "living off his reputation." (He's batted .333, 18-for-54, in the last three postseasons, including 7 XBH.)

He's a Hall of Famer already, and a legitimate one.

New York bias? Absolutely. Overrated? Not a chance.

Well, he is "overrated," because, contrary to widespread reports, he isn't the holier brother of Jesus Christ cloned through the mortal flesh of Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and Honus Wagner, but he is still a hell of a hitter.
