    I'm not an avid listener of the Beatles ... they were a bit before my time ... but I can hear them in just about every band I do listen to. It's unmistakeable. You don't have to like them but you have to respect and appreciate that.

    Even Nirvana drew heavily from the Beatles, Spnited. They shouldn't be on this list either because they used that foundation to create their own genre ... that can't be understated.

    Chances are I will defend most any grunge/alternative band from the 90s -- including Nirvana and Oasis -- in music threads. The further we move away from that moment, the more it seems like it will be my golden era of music.
