Eisenhower. Both as a kid and as an adult. Oh, and a pixelated portrait of him is on the back of one of the liquor stores.

Houston has a mini Mount Rushmore. I will try and get a picture of it next week. It barely peeks through the spaghetti bowl as you reach downtown from the north.

Liesl I know you have some ties to Austin, isn't there a Stevie Ray Vaughan statue there?

and it lights up at night! That is kind of trippy to drive past when you don't expect it.

The monument to Charlie is, I believe, his gravesite

If we're talking about bizarrely located tribute portraits, here's Richmond strip club Velvet, featuring a giant mural of Princess Diana. Neither the portrait nor Velvet are there anymore, although I believe it's just a strip club with a new name.

There's a huge buffalo outside of Jamestown, N.D., and a huge cow outside of New Salem, ND, on I-94.

I will have to ask my daughter. They are so natural in Austin that I don't readily recall actually seeing any statues.

Fort Stockton, Texas (along I-10, about 250 miles from El Paso and a million miles from anywhere else) has a giant roadrunner named "Paisano Pete"

There's also a replica of Stonhenge, called "Stonehenge II," in Ingram. Used to be in some guy's pasture outside Kerrville, but it was moved a couple of years ago.
