Who has the worst rush defense in the NFL?

True, but the Colts were terrible against the run most of last season. They made some adjustments late and turned it around in the playoffs.

Isn't Bob Sanders hurting? That makes a big difference.

Indy's rush defense is awful. It is a glaring weakness. But teams have a problem exploiting it because the Colts put points on the board and they can do it in a hurry. As a result, teams often find themselves in a beat the clock scenario to keep up.
There are a few teams that exploit the Colts without feeling panicky. New England is arguably the best at it because they know they can score from anywhere on the field.

And that is exactly how things looked not just early, but at the end of the regular season last year. They could not stop the run at all until the playoffs, when they did it well enough to win the Super Bowl.

Part of why they got better during the playoffs was Rob Morris clicking in his new position, and he's out for the rest of the season now. I expect the run defense will remain poor this year.

That is definitely a part of it, but I still think it is a bit early to write that unit off as horrible when they were equally horrible most of the way in 2006.

actually, no

Colts had 12th-worst rush defense in NFL history last year and this year I believe they're 21st in the league -- still below average but actually a pretty significant improvement over 2006
