I am not a big Liddy fan. She has no improvisational skills whatsoever. She is unable to talk off the cuff. She ran in 2000 -- but I am not surprised that no one remembers.

Zell Miller. He's one of my heroes. I'll never forget his speech at the last Republican convention.

John McCain, Hell of a trick to go from almost John Kerry's running mate in 2004 to the presumptive 2008 Republican nominee.

    *****

Joe Lieberman doesn't count at this point as he's an independent.

For the life of me, I'm trying to think of a truly pragmatic, non-hysterical Democrat I could point to with admiration. My wife would be about it.

Of the current crop, Hagel is a man.
And on the whole, I really admire how Republicans stick to message.
    Probably their current greatest gift.

It can be tough to think of rational Republicans since they've let the inmates run their party.

My thing - It's just real hard to respect politicians in general right now. I could care less about their affiliation. I guess that's why Zell just left me stunned. Here's this angry old bastard, a Dem, who isn't trying to be politically correct and just sharing his heart and saying how pissed and tired of the system he is.

Now Beaker, couldn't you make the same argument for the other side?? Not trying to be antagonistic, or talk junk. I'm just among the disenchanted, I suppose.

    I like Ron Paul.

But I hate everyone else who likes him.
