Whitey Herzog, Doug Harvey elected to Baseball Hall of Fame

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Steak Snabler, Dec 7, 2009.

  1. As anti-union as I may be now (baseball union, not regular union) I firmly believe Marvin Miller belongs in the Hall for what he did in the 70s and to a lesser extent the 80s. He'll get in, but it may be posthumous.

Maybe Curt Flood will be able to go in someday too.

Funny, then, that he's in the ownership group and the media guide lists him as chairman.

    Oh, no, there was irony.

As long as the execs hold the upper hand, it'll be a cold day in hell before either Marvin Miller or Curt Flood get in.

As for Whitey, he's borderline — one (glorious) WS win in '82 :) — but he was a consistent winner and one can make a case. If nothing else, the door has been left ajar for a lot of other managers in the same category.
