Marvin would probably like to get fired...

The Bengals need to get rid of Lewis. But, if ever there is a team that won't do what it should, it's the Bengals.

Don't be so sure. About a week ago, there was some rumors that Marinelli and Mayhew (the interim GM) may be kept on.

Of course, if that happens, there will be about 5000 people at Ford Field next year.

There is not a single reason to think they will keep Marinelli.

Should the Jets finish out of the playoffs, after spending $140 million in the off-season, does Mangini get shown the door?

If Mangini gets canned, he'll have plenty of time to work on his acting.

Interesting situation in Buffalo, where the organization will neither confirm nor deny the three-year contract extension Jauron supposedly signed in October. I think GM (and marketing whiz) Russ Brandon knows he'll have a tough time selling season tix if Jauron comes back -- there's already a rumor afloat about a suite owner ditching if he does -- but he won't have the final say.

    Likely coaching changes:
    1. Detroit - Rod Marinelli
After that nightmare of an 0-14 start, he's GOT to go, right? Right?

    2. Seattle - Mike Holmgren (Jim Mora Jr. the head coach-designate)*
    Already decided before the season.

    3. St. Louis - Jim Haslett
After two straight wins to start his interim coaching tenure, St. Louis's performance the rest of the way dooms him.

    4. Cleveland - Romeo Crennell
    The record speaks for itself.

    5. Oakland - Tom Cable
I don't think too many people will be upset if Al Davis unplugs the Cable.

    6. Kansas City - Herm Edwards
With Carl Peterson gone, Herm follows him out the door.

    7. San Diego - Norv Turner
The team's been in too much of a freefall since they fired Marty Schottenheimer.

    POSSIBLE coaching changes
    1. Dallas - Wade Phillips
Does Jerry Jones tire of mediocrity and turn the keys over to Jason Garrett?

    2. Washington - Jim Zorn
I don't think Zorn deserves to get fired, but The Danny could still do so.

    3. Philadelphia - Andy Reid
If he goes, he probably is more likely to resign than get fired.

    4. Green Bay - Mike McCarthy
Not sure how likely he is to get the axe, but I wouldn't put it past Ted Thompson.

    5. San Francisco - Mike Singletary
Only because the 49ers are awful. Mike deserves a chance to see what he can do.

    6. Cincinnati - Marvin Lewis
One dismal season shouldn't do it, but you never know with the Bengals.

I think if Wade Phillips wins a playoff game, he's safe. I think Jerry has discovered to his own chagrin that Jason Garrett isn't ready for prime time.

there's no rock-solid reason to believe jerry jones would turn the cowboys over to garrett. saw an interesting bit on a dmn blog this week about holmgren coming to dallas.

I talked to some Dallas reporters during the first Cowboys-Giants game. They said that Garrett has not received much criticism for what's happened this season; that the blame falls on Phillips, injuries and the daily dramatic maelstrom that surrounds the Metroplex.

No way does Indy get rid of Dungy.
