Which conference will lay a turd in the NCAA tournament this year?

Illinois is only a 4.5 point favorite which is one of the closest spreads in the first round. I think only the 8/9 games were closer. And Illinois won't have Chester Frazier.

    Washington 71, Mississippi State 58.

See ya sonny. Oh, and nice try yanking that crap. September 19th, and not a day sooner.

Good pull GB. I went to his profile to find the post and it suddenly wasn't there.

Once again, the SEC disgraces itself. Just like Georgia last year, MSU could not have won any other major conference. This is the downside of the conference tournaments: a team gets hot for a few days in a mediocre league and wins a tournament where you might as well draw a name out of a hat.

Not that Washington is any great shakes, but at least they won the regular-season title in their league.

You - and everyone else on the board that he's ticked off because he posts before he thinks - are welcome.

    Just dumb ...

Yeah, it's DISGRACEFUL when those 13 seeds fall. And DISGRACEFUL when an underdog wins a conference tournament.

And nice call on the SEC going 0-for-3.

The fact that ANY team from a major conference is a 13 or 14 (see Georgia, 2008) seed says a lot right there: like they don't belong. Siena is a 9 seed, for crying out loud. You win a major conference and all you get is a 13??

Yet he isn't. Posted after Washington dumped Mississippi State.

Care to revise your statements about the Pac-10? A quality 5-1 showing in the first round.

    Big 12 was 6-0. Granted they had a 2, 3, 3, 7, 8 and 9...but not bad.

Those 7 (Texas), 8 (Oklahoma State) and 9 (Texas A&M) seeds could have just as easily lost, so yeah, a nice start for the Big 12.

As for conferences laying eggs, through the first round I would have to say the ACC. North Carolina, Duke and Maryland all won, but Wake got embarrassed by Cleveland State in a 4-13 game, Florida State lost to Wisconsin in a 5-12 game, and Clemson and BC both lost as 7 seeds. The ACC could be done tomorrow.
